A Logic-Tree Approach for Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assessment in the Administrative Region of Attica (Greece)

چکیده

Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assessment (PSHA) was carried out for the administrative region of Attica (Greece). Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) and Velocity (PGV) values were calculated return periods 475 950 years five sub-areas covering entire region. PGA hazard curves Uniform Spectra (UHS) in terms spectral acceleration (Sa) generated Athens, Methana, capitals each island (Salamina, Aegina, Poros, Hydra, Spetses, Kythira, Antikythira). Area sources adopted from Euro-Mediterranean Model 2013 (ESHM13) its update, ESHM20, taking into account both crustal slab tectonic environments. Motion Prediction Equations (GMPEs) proposed Greek territory ranked PGV. Each GMPE reconstructed as a weighted model, accounting normal non-normal focal mechanisms area source. PGA, PGV, Sa computed using logic tree, integrating seismotectonic models major branches sub-logic trees, comprised multiple GMPEs source, minor branches. The results showed higher seismic near Gulf Corinth interface, which could indicate need to revise active building code Attica.

Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assessment of Tehran Based on Arias Intensity

A probabilistic seismic hazard assessment in terms of Arias intensity is presented for the city of Tehran. Tehran is the capital and the most populated city of Iran. From economical, political and social points of view, Tehran is the most significant city of Iran. Many destructive earthquakes happened in Iran in the last centuries. Historical references indicate that the old city of Rey and the...

A new probabilistic seismic hazard assessment for greater Tokyo.

Tokyo and its outlying cities are home to one-quarter of Japan's 127 million people. Highly destructive earthquakes struck the capital in 1703, 1855 and 1923, the last of which took 105,000 lives. Fuelled by greater Tokyo's rich seismological record, but challenged by its magnificent complexity, our joint Japanese-US group carried out a new study of the capital's earthquake hazards. We used the...

Probabilistic Seismic-Hazard Assessment Including Site Effects for Evansville, Indiana, and the Surrounding Region

Evansville, Indiana, is one of the closest large urban areas to both the New Madrid Seismic Zone, where large earthquakes occurred in 1811–1812, and the Wabash Valley Seismic Zone, where there is evidence of several large prehistoric earthquakes in the last 14,000 yr. For this reason, Evansville has been targeted as a priority region for urban seismic-hazard assessment. The probabilistic seismi...
